About Lisa Arango

I have over 15 years of experience helping people struggling with relationship issues, parenting and anxiety. I do couples therapy, individual therapy with adults and teens, and parenting consulting in Miami.

As a Licensed professional therapist and the only Certified Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapist in Miami, I work with individuals, couples, and families to address problems within relationships using Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy, an evidence-based model that gets to the heart of the matter, by

  • identifying core relationship issues that keep you "stuck" in the same old fight

  • processing past hurts, breeches of trust, and injuries to the relationship

  • understanding the pattern of disconnection that drive you and your partner away from each other

  • and strengthening the emotional connection between you and your loved one

I also work with kids, teens, and adults using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help alleviate the distress and symptoms associated with anxiety, stress, worry, and perfectionism.

My office is located in the heart of Sunset in South Miami. Please call for a free 15 minute confidential consultation.

I am a Developmental Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Parent Coach, and Gottman Workshop Leader. I am certified in Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and have Level 3 training in the Gottman Couples Therapy Method and specialized  training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. I have been successfully treating couples, adults, kids, and teens dealing with anxiety, perfectionism, conflict, and relationship and parenting issues for more than 15 years. I am on the faculty in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University. I served as the Director of the Professional Counseling Psychology masters program for the past 12 years and I continue teaching and training graduate students to become professional counselors. I reside in Miami, FL and am married with two children.
